How to Choose the Right Marble for Your Bathroom Remodel

When the UAE set out to build its pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha, the ambition was not just to create a structure — it was to tell a story through material. That story was told in rammed earth, layered by hand, sourced from local soils, and crafted by Conmarble.

Awarded the Gold Medal for Best Self-Built Pavilion, the UAE Pavilion became an icon of regional sustainability and material authenticity. It stood as a reminder that modern architecture in the Gulf can look back to its roots — and forward to global leadership in ecological design.

“Rammed earth is deeply local and yet universally meaningful,” says Ahmad O.R. Abdel Majeed, CEO and Founder of Conmarble.
“In the UAE Pavilion, we saw how a humble, ancient material could become a symbol of ambition, design intelligence, and identity.”

Conmarble’s rammed earth system used in the project was designed for both durability and breathability, engineered to perform under GCC climate conditions while remaining VOC-free, carbon-efficient, and aesthetically rich. Every wall became a tactile timeline of soil and skill — speaking not just to visitors, but to the land itself.

This is just one of many landmark projects in Conmarble’s growing portfolio, which includes installations across NEOM, AlUla, Red Sea Global, and cultural institutions throughout the region. But the UAE Pavilion remains a special milestone: where architecture, environment, and narrative met in one material — earth.
